About Vinterkyla: Shattered Realms

Vinterkyla: Shattered Realms is an open-world fantasy RPG set in a fractured realm filled with ancient magic, fading alliances, and forgotten legends. Built to be played solo or with friends, the game offers complete freedom in how you explore, survive, build, and shape your destiny.

From the quiet life of a tavern-keeper to the political intrigue of ruling a kingdom, Vinterkyla gives players the tools to write their own story. Every choice you make — from the race and background of your character to the alliances you form — leaves a mark on the world.

How it all started

The idea behind Vinterkyla was born in the mind of a young boy growing up in Sweden — fitting, given the name. Longing for a world beyond the walls of his room, he would often escape into imagination: a place where he could be someone else, somewhere far away. What began as daydreams became drawings, notes, stories — and eventually, the foundation for a world he would one day build not just for himself, but for others who needed a place to belong.

We were inspired by games and books like Skyrim, Lord of the Rings, Enshrouded, Game of Thrones and Dungeons & Dragons. But instead of copying them, we wanted to build something uniquely ours — a game where player agency truly matters, and where exploration feels meaningful, not procedural.

Our mission

We believe games should be more than just entertainment — they should offer escape, creativity, and connection. Vinterkyla is a love letter to those who dream of other worlds, who enjoy tinkering with builds and backstories, who want their adventures to feel personal.

Whether you're diving into a dungeon with friends, managing your own shop, or simply fishing at a misty lake at dawn — this is your story. We just built the world.

Built by gamers, for gamers

Vinterkyla is an indie project crafted with passion, late nights, and an unhealthy amount of coffee. It’s a work-in-progress, constantly evolving — and we’re building it together with the community. Feedback, bug reports, ideas, and wild dreams are not just welcome — they’re essential.

Thanks for being part of this journey. The realm of Elyndor awaits.
